National History
HISTORY - The Republic of Tessen

Pre-History


3000 BC - Native hunter-gather tribes occupy Tessen.
700 BC - The first ancient burial mounds are built in the area.
1000 - The early native Sioux tribes are living in the area that will become inland Tessen.
1006 - The Viking attempt to settle Newfoundland ends in failure due to native attack.
15th century
1497 - June -- John Cabot discovers and claims Newfoundland for England.
16th century
1503 - The first British settlement in Newfoundland is built at Cabato.
1509 - British explorer James Bedford discovers the Great Lakes from the St. Lawrence River.
1517 - British explorer Robert Kensington discovers Wisconsin via the Great Lakes.
1519 - The French establish the settlement of Argentia in Newfoundland.
1521 - Kensington discovers the shores of northern Minnesota.
1523 - Kensington and company die while wintering in northern Wisconsin.

1525 - The first British trading posts are built in Wisconsin.
1528 - A colony of British separatists is built at Green Bay. They seek freedom and isolation.
1530 - Aug. 30 -- Green Bay declares it's independence from England. Unhappy with colonial policies.
1535 - August 1 – England recognizes Green Bay independence. Self-governance begins.
1536 - The first Tessen-owned trading posts are built in western Wisconsin.
1540 - The first census of Tessen shows a population of 295.
1545 - Tessen and the local natives are co-existing peacefully.
1546 - The Tessen city of Bedford is built in north-eastern Wisconsin.
1561 - An agricultural boom hits Tessen. Crops are thriving.
1571 - Tessen establishes a national centralized bank.
1576 - French explorers battle with natives in eastern Minnesota.
1585 - Tessen explorer Edward Smith heads south to begin exploring the Mississippi River.
1586 - Smith reaches the end of the Mississippi, and discovers an outlet into the Gulf of Peisandros.
--------- The Smith expedition is massacred by natives in the wilderness. Smith is killed.
1588 - Tessen establishes it’s first professional army.
17th century
1603 - Fort Leavenworth is built in Southwestern Wisconsin. It serves as a trading post and defensive fort.
1605 - A trading post is built at the future site of Milwaukee. Settlement begins in the area.
1606 - Explorer William Hastings sets out to explore the wilderness to the south.
1608 - June 8 -- Hastings discovers what will become the site of Biloxi.
--------- Sept. 20 -- The Tessen Trade Company is founded.
1611 - A city is built at Biloxi along the Gulf of Peisandros. It will eventually become a major naval port.
1612 - Tessen settlements and trading posts are built throughout eastern Minnesota.
--------- Tessen begins shipping goods down the Mississippi River. The borders are opened to trade.
1616 - Southern natives attack and massacre the inhabitants of Biloxi.
1633 - A rush of colonists to find their way to Tessen. Superior becomes a city.
1652 - Aug. 19 -- The Tessen capital is moved from Green Bay to Milwaukee.
1653 - The renowned Milwaukee Arts Academy is built.
1655 - St. Anthony (later called Minneapolis) is founded.

1659 - The Tessen Stock Exchange is founded.
1667 - Tessen begins building trading posts along the Mississippi.
1688 - A city is rebuilt at Biloxi. Tessen controls the Mississippi River.

18th century
1704 - Tessen allies with Spain against Turkey. First war.
1706 - May 28 -- Turkish forces attack Biloxi, but are repelled by the city garrison.
1707 - A major defensive fortress is built at Biloxi.
--------- Aug. – Tessen defeats Turkish troops in Alabama wilderness.
1710 - Feb. 18 -- Spain accepts peace with Turkey. Tessen at peace.

1742 - A naval shipyard is built in Escanaba.
1758 - April 20 -- A major political crisis hits Tessen. National stability falls.
1761 - March 27 -- A second political crisis hits Tessen. Stability suffers yet again.
1766 - Tessen recovers from the political crisis of the last ten years.
1774 - The British begin exploring the island later known as the state of Quadra.
1778 - March 31 -- British Captain James Cook claims Quadra for the British Empire.
1789 - Fort San Miguel is built in Quadra by the Spanish. This will be the only Spanish settlement in Tessen.
1792 - The island of Quadra is officially named after Peruvian seafarer, Juan Francisco Quadra.
1797 - July 5 – Tessen joins USA in their War of Independence.
1799 - Aug. 3 -- Battle of Southport. British troops are repelled by Tessen defenders.
--------- Aug. 28 - Tessen troops rout the British at South Bend, Indiana.
19th century
1800 - Sept. 20 – England accepts peace with USA. Tessen at peace.
1803 - England buys Biloxi and Tessen territories along the Mississippi River.
--------- April 30 – Tessen gains the Dakotas east of the Missouri River.
1809 - Fort Victoria is built by the British on the island of Quadra
1811 - Dec. 16 -- The Great Missouri Earthquake is felt in Tessen.
1812 - Tessen remains neutral in the War of 1812.
1833 - The USA city of Chicago is settled by 350 settlers.
1836 -
Tessen population reaches one million.
--------- The Lumber and Paper industries begin in Tessen.
1843 - Aug. 8 – Peisandros declares war on Rose. Tessen allies w/ Rose.
--------- Aug 12 – General Cavanaugh with 10,000 men heads to help defend Rose.
--------- Dec. 18 – Cavanaugh invades Peisandros, and is attacked near Dallas.
1844 - Jan. 18 – Cavanaugh is forced to retreat back to Austin, Rose.
1845 - Sept. 18 – Rose accepts peace with
Peisandros. Tessen at peace.
1848 - The world-renowned Opera House is built in Milwaukee.
--------- Sept. 28 – Tessen purchases Newfoundland from England.
1850 - The Agricultural sector of Tessen experiences sudden growth. Good year for farmers.
--------- CENSUS: Immigrant Population = German 1.5%, Polish 1.2%, Irish 0.1%
1852 - The first Tessen railroad is built in Milwaukee.
1851 - A major Tessen shipyard is built in Newfoundland.
--------- Sept. 15 – Tessen purchases Russian land claims in Alaska.
1858 -
Aug. 13 – General Cavanaugh dies.
1860 - Tessen remains neutral in USA Civil War.
--------- CENSUS: Immigrant Population = German 1.4%, Polish 0.4%
1861 - Little Crow Sioux Uprising occurs in northern Minnesota. Suppressed.
1866 - Aug. 18 – Rose declares war on
Peisandros.
--------- Aug. 22 – 10,000 men under General Stewart head south.
1867 - Stewart invades and occupies
Peisandrian territories.
1868 - Jan. 25 – Rose accepts peace with
Peisandros.
--------- June 25 – Tessen purchases Quadra from UK. Alaskan claims to UK.
1870 - CENSUS: Immigrant Population = German 1.1%, Polish 0.3%
1871 - The Great Chicago Fire burns most of the USA city of Chicago.
1874 - The literacy level in Tessen reaches 95% of the population.
--------- Railroads now cover all of Tessen.
1877 - July 3 – Peisandros declares war on Rose.
--------- July 5 – Tessen, UK, and USA ally with Rose against Peisandros.
--------- July 7 – 10,000 men under General Stewart head south to defend Rose.
1878 - Rose accepts peace with
Peisandros. Tessen at peace.
--------- Tessen war loses = 9,575. General Stewart is a hero.
1880 - CENSUS: Immigrant Population = German 1.1%, Polish 0.1%
1881 - Aug. 24 – Beloved General Stewart dies.
1888 - March 26 –
Peisandros declares war on Rose.
--------- May 12 – 10,000 men under General York head south.
--------- July 30 – Tessen troops routed near Matamoros. York killed.
1889 - Jan. 13 –
Peisandros accepts peace with Rose. Tessen at peace.
1890 - June 5 – Tessen's literacy level reaches 100%.

20th century
1900 - CENSUS: Immigrant Population = German 0.9%, Polish 0.1%
1904 - The Automobile industry begins in Tessen.
1906 - Tessen bans smoking in all public and municipal buildings.
1908 - A new Tessen military academy is founded.
--------- A new fashion trend within Tessen leads to acceptance of partial nudity.
--------- Casinos start springing up around Tessen.
1909 - Cruisers enter service in Tessen's navy.
1910 - Battleships, destroyers, and submarines enter service in Tessen’s navy.

1913 - The Tessen inheritence/estate tax goes into effect.
1914 - June 1 -- Tessen's first naval battleship is launched. RTS Wisconsin BB-1.
--------- The National Monument Act is passed, establishing historical sites throughout the country.
--------- Romanticist art, literature, and music become popular in Tessen culture.
1915 - The Tessen Wilderness Rescue Service is established.
1917 - May 20 -- Tessen's first naval submarine is launched. RTS Milwaukee SS-1.
--------- June 25 -- Tessen's first naval cruiser is launched. RTS Biloxi CG-1.
1920 - Aug. 1 -- Women's Suffrage. Women are allowed to vote.
--------- Nov. 2 -- The first commercial radio station begins broadcasting in Tessen.

1921 - Tessen's first national subway opens to the public in Milwaukee.
1922 - The Arms Manufacturing industry begins in Tessen.
1927 - The Great Mississippi Flood. Millions of displaced African-Americans migrate northward.
1929 - Nov. 29 -- Tsunami waves caused by an earthquake strike sourthern Newfoundland. 228 killed.
1930 - CENSUS: Immigrant Population = French 3.1%, Russian 1.2%, Ukranian 0.7%, German 0.4%, African 0.1%
1931 - The "Four Years Drought" begins in western Tessen.
1934 - May 1 -- A large dust storm kills 23 people in Dakota. It could have been worse.
--------- July 1 -- The world-famous Milwaukee Zoo opens to tourists.
1935 - July 24 -- A record heat wave sours Milwaukee temperatures to 113 degrees (F).
1937 - An ancient stone temple is unearthed in Tessen beneath a modern construction site.
--------- The Tribal Lands Initiative is passed to create national preserves for the protection of native tribes.
1938 - Creative lingerie becomes a popular fashion choice among women.
1939 - The world-renowned Tessen Theatre opens to eager audiences in downtown Milwaukee.
1940 - Jan. 4 -- The Great War begins in Australia.
--------- Oct. 19 -- Tessen joins the Allies in the Great War.
--------- Same-sex marriage is banned within Tessen.

1941 - July 21 -- First troops under General Stillwater depart Tessen, bound for Australia.
--------- The first commercial television stations begins broadcasting in Tessen.
--------- Anti-Aircraft guns are built in Newfoundland.
1942 - July 12 -- General Stillwater is commanding 20,000 troops in the war overseas.
--------- Coastal fortifications are built in Newfoundland.
1944 - June 28 -- Tessen's first naval aircraft carrier is launched. RTS Warrior CV-1.
--------- Tessen is scheduled to host the Summer Olympics, however, they are cancelled due to the war.
1946 - March 25 -- The Great War ends. 7,600 Tessen war casualties.
--------- June 23 -- A 7.3 earthquake strikes the state of Quadra. Injuries and damage are minimal.
1950 - CENSUS: Immigrant Population = French 3.2%, African 1.8%, Russian 1.3%, Ukranian 0.6%, German 0.5%
1957 - Nov. 1 - The Mackinac International Bridge is opened in Northern Wisconsin.
1960 - CENSUS: Immigrant Population = French 3.4%, African 1.7%, Russian 1.0%, German 0.7%, Ukranian 0.4%
1970 - CENSUS: Immigrant Population = French 3.6%, African 1.7%, German 1.1%, Russian 0.6%, Asian 0.2%
1976 - The first commercial computer software company opens in Tessen.
1978 - The Tessen National Observatory opens to the delight of astronomers.
1979 - The underwear, lingerie, swimwear industry begins in Tessen.
1980 - The coastline of Milwaukee is revitalized with white sandy beaches. Tourism increases greatly.
--------- Computer and console gaming becomes huge business in Tessen.

1981 - Sex education becomes part of the public education curriculum in Tessen.
1982 - The practice of abortion is officially banned within the country.

1985 - Tessen launches it's first communications satellite into orbit.
1987 - Tessen's first nuclear power plant opens as the nation reacts to growing energy needs.

1990 - CENSUS: Immigrant Population = French 3.4%, German 1.7%, African 1.3%, Russian 0.4%, Asian 0.4%
1995 - A severe heat wave kills 400 people in the USA city of Chicago.
1996 - The Summer Olympics are held in Milwaukee.
1998 - Milwaukee becomes the American headquarters for the UAR.
19th century
2000 - CENSUS: Immigrant Population = French 3.3%, German 1.9%, African 1.2%, Asian 0.5%, Russian 0.4%
2008 - A curious increase in archaeological discoveries strikes the scientific community.
2008 - An extensive breakwater is constructed along the Milwaukee coastline.
2008 - Permanent legislation in Tessen bans the practice of genetic engineering.
2008 - August 3 - Tessen buys northern Iowa from USA. It becomes the state of Bakhoje.
2008 - Tessen Aviation delivers it's first shipment of state-of-the-art stealth bombers to the Air Force.
2008 - Tessen becomes a leading nation in the manufacture of bras, panties, lingerie, and swimwear.
--------- Medicine is declared "unpatentable", causing existing medicines to become cheaper.
2008 - Tessen begins investing in solar energy.
2008 - Tessen is a world-leading producer of oil and natural gas.
2009 - The nation of USA collapses. Tessen gains the Chicago Strip south of Milwaukee.
