Jon Baas: Now on Twitter I've decided to join Twitter. Feel free to check me out, and follow. UPDATE: -- (October 26, 2009) I've decided to close up shop at Twitter. At first, it seemed like a wonderful service, and a great way to communicate with fans. But the truth be told, I'm not getting much out of it anymore. It's too limited for me. And I just don't have the interest that I once did. So, I'm closing up shop. No more Twitter for Jon. I'll keep my profile online, it'll still be there, but I won't be posting. If Twitter improves its service, and finds ways to entice me back, then I can pick up where I left off. But until then, my social network of choice will continue to be Facebook. Come look me up sometime! - -
Jon and Kelli Visit Chicago Earlier this month, my fiancee (Kelli) and I went to Chicago. The trip was a 2008 Christmas gift from my Marine brother (Ben), who reserved us a hotel for two nights, pre-paid two 3-day tourist passes to get us into our choice of thirty Chicago destinations (museums, Sears Tower, etc), AND sent along a little spending money for meals, gas, and the like. From June 5-7 Kelli and I were playing tourist in Chicago. By Sunday night we were driving east into Michigan to visit the small town Kelli taught in before moving back here to Wisconsin. While we were traveling, I kept a hand-written journal of my musings. When I returned to Milwaukee, I transcribed them onto my blog as post-dated blog entries. If you'd like to read about our travels, check out my June 2009 blog archive. Start at the bottom, and read UP. Comments are welcome. Enjoy! - -

Joel Graduates From Marine Boot Camp
My youngest brother, Joel, has graduated from Marine Boot Camp. He earned his Private stripes on April 10, and is now in service to the U.S. Marine Corps. He is the second Baas sibling to serve in the Marines (joining my other brother, Ben), and is currently the fourth sibling of mine to serve in the U.S. Armed Forces. Becca is an officer in the Air Force (serving over in Germany), and Lydia is a seaman in the Navy (stationed in Florida). Congratulations Joel! "Oorah!" - -
A
Wedding Date
The news is official. Kelli and I have set a date for our wedding. We will be tying the knot on July 10, 2010. Our chosen location will be in Tomah, Wisconsin. Her family lives there, and it's relatively close to my own family up in Minneapolis. - -
Happy
Birthday Jon!
Today I am 29. - -
I'm Engaged! Yes, it's official, I'm engaged to be married! Exactly one month ago today (January 2, 2009), I proposed to my girlfriend Kelli, and she said "yes". There were some happy kisses and joyful smiles involved.... but I won't go into that right now. Needless to say, in a year and a half (during summer 2010), I will be marrying a beautiful kindergarten teacher, and moving from Milwaukee up to the small town of Brillion, Wisconsin (near Appleton and Manitowoc). After that, a whole new chapter begins, and one that I'll have the honor of sharing... with my wife. - -
Joel
Heads Off to the Marines
As of today, my youngest brother, Joel, heads off to join the Marines. He will be at boot camp for the next three months. Officially, he is now the fourth of my five siblings to join the military. Unlike Ben, however, (a rifleman in the Marines), Joel will be training as an artillery expert. God speed, Joel. You're in my prayers. -
