Earth, near Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates, the first phase of
Masdar City -- a $22 billion eco-project -- is completed. Entirely
pre-planned and self-contained, Masdar City is the world's first carbon
neutral, zero waste and fully sustainable city. Incorporated within
this ambitious city project is the largest solar power plant in the
Middle East, rooftop photovoltaics, wind farms, geothermal sources and
a hydrogen power plant. The city's water needs are fulfilled by a
solar-powered desalination plant, and there are extensive recycling
systems throughout the city as well. The commercial sector is mostly
concerned with the manufacture of environmental-friendly products,
automobiles are banned from the city, and residents use integrated
forms of mass transit and personal rapid transit to get around --
including external connections by rail and outside roadways to the rest
of Abu Dhabi.
Masdar
City will initially be home to around 7,000 residents and 15,000
commuters, although it continues to undergo major expansion. The final
phase of the project will be completed in 2025, and will cover an area
of nearly 2.5 square miles (6 sq km). Upon completion, the city will
contain 50,000 residents and 1,500 businesses. (Historical Archives -- date assumed) |

against player salaries is too great, and advertisers started to pull
their funding. Other football leagues began to shut down for fear of
successful legal action, schools close down their football programs,
and the sport loses its integrity and appeal. (Facebook: Starfleet Academy) |

| May 9 | After
years of planning, the Federated States of Europe is formally
established, turning much of the European continent into a single
nation
ruled by a Democratic government. The establishing nations, which are
incorporated into the FSE as component states are: Austria, Flanders,
France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Portugal,
Spain, Norway, Switzerland, and Georgia.
The constitution of
this new federal parliamentary republic calls for a President elected
by the Parliament and the legislatures of every component state. The
Presidential term is capped at seven years, and is renewable only once.
The Parliament will be composed of the European Assembly as the lower
house, with 750 elected members who will form the government of the
Federation by electing a Prime Minister at the start of every
Parliament. The upper house will be the European Council with 10 members
per state to begin with, all of whom would be serving at the will and
pleasure of their respective state legislatures. (future history) |

all across Earth are shocked when official documents are leaked
revealing decades of secret experimentation in the area of human

leaders,
small-time dictators and determined freedom-fighters involved in
Africa's many wars and revolutions are genetically
engineered "Augments". A number of the planet's known terrorists,
particularly in the Middle East, are Augments, as is a top cabinet

|
World War
III finally comes to an end on Earth when several of Earth's governments meet in San Francisco to declare a cease-fire. At least 73 million
people are confirmed dead, although some reports claim casualties to be as high as 300 million. In addition the
territories of the Eastern
Coalition (namely Asia, China, North Korea and parts of Pakistan and
India) are decimated. The United States, Europe, Central and South
America, and the non-border regions of Russia are relatively untouched
by large-scale military operations and/or missile attacks.
Almost every nation, however, does face terrorist attacks either in the form of bombs
or cyber-hacking.
Notable world changes as a result of the war-ending treaty include:
- A
new Democratic government is set up in China, and the former nation is
broken down into eight sovereign countries. These new nations consist
of Hong Kong, Macau, Xinjiang, Tibet, Inner Mongolia, Manchuria,
Hainan and China.
- The
government of North Korea is toppled, finally bringing freedom and
pro-Democracy leaders to the economically destroyed nation. North and
South Korea are unified under the already existing South Korean
government.
- On
the Indian-Pakistan front, the disputed area of Kashmir is granted
independence as a sovereign self-governing nation. All other borders
revert to pre-war status.
- India gains full control of all other pre-war disputed territories.
- Various
areas of Africa and the Middle east see changes as a result of
all known Augments being forced from power and either executed for war
crimes, or put on trial and locked away for life. Petty revolutions,
dictatorships, and rebellions are crushed, and long-time war-torn
regions are placed on a path toward reconstruction.
- In Africa, the Democratic Republic of Congo is renamed the Federal State of the Congo.
- The
African countries of Ethiopia, Eritrea, Djibouti, Somalia and
Somaliland are joined together as one nation known as the African
Confederation.
The
body of former Indian Prime Minister Khan Noonian Singh is never found.
He played a military role within the Augment's faction, and is assumed
to have died in one of the final battles of the war. Nonetheless,
without indisputable evidence of his death, his true fate remains one
of Earth's most fascinating unsolved mysteries.

security crewman had disobeyed orders to stay out of the area under
repair, and was electrocuted by the station. His body is
later committed to space. Unknown to the Enterprise crew, the body of
the
dead Human is a actually a highly detailed clone. The real crewman has

Enterprise ship systems, and sabotaging the Enterprise to drop out of
warp, both drones are killed by the projectile weapons of ship's
security, and blown out into space. (ENT: "Regeneration" -- alternate)
Later
in the day, NX Enterprise catches up with the increasingly enhanced
Borg transport, targets the vessel's EPS manifold with a torpedo, and
knocks it out of warp. At the same time, sabotaged systems come to life
on Enterprise, shutting down her non-assimilated power systems. A group
of Borg drones beam onto the Enterprise, and a firefight ensues with
ship security. Meanwhile, external Borg disruptor fire destroys the
Enterprise's hull plating, and a Borg cutting beam starts tearing into
the hull. (ENT: "Regeneration")
Unable
to regain control of the NX Enterprise, Captain Archer orders the crew
to escape pods, and overloads the warp core. The NX Enterprise
explodes, and takes out the nearby Borg transport as well. The Borg
threat has been neutralized, however, the NX Enterprise is destroyed,

Klingon colony world. Choosing not to follow the Bird-of-Prey into
Klingon territory, Captain Archer alerts the Klingon High Command,
which later finds and destroys the Augments before they can carry out
their nefarious plan. Dr. Soong is later returned to Starfleet custody. (ENT: "Borderlands" -- alternate) |

Starfleet Admiral Forrest. The Valiant, once again commanded by Captain
Archer arrives at Vulcan to investigate. With the insistance that the
Vulcans handle the investigation beyond the embassy, Starfleet's hands
are tied. Investigators remain at the embassy site, and the Valiant
returns home with the bodies of the Human victims. (ENT: "The Forge" -- alternate)
On
Vulcan, The High Command determines that the embassy bombs were set by
the Syrrannites -- a small group of Vulcans who follow a "corrupted"
form of Surak's teachings. The High Command uses this evidence to begin
bombing the Syrrannite sanctuary in an area known as the Vulcan Forge
-- a barren area with electrical sandstorms and geomagnetic
instabilities that prevent the use of any technology. The bombardment
is successful, the sanctuary is destroyed, and many Syrranites are
killed. Survivors scatter into the surrounding terrain. (ENT: "The Forge" -- alternate)

Back
on Vulcan, and before the Vulcan fleet is able to finish it's invasion
of Andoria, Syrran enters the High Command chamber. He reveals to the
council that the Syrranites are not responsible for the embassy attack.
He also claims that High Command leader V'Las used the embassy bombing
as part of his plan to round up the Syrranites, so they wouldn't find
the Kir'Shara. V'Las insists that the Kir'Shara is a myth, however,
Syrran activates it, thereby displaying the teachings of
Surak. Defeated, V'Las tries to destroy the Kir'Shara, but is instead
arrested, and is forced to call off the Vulcan invasion of Andoria.
Facing treason, the High Command is later disbanded. (ENT: "Kir'Shara" -- alternate)
